I was Today years old when I learned about the Compose Key 🫠 So, no more Ctrl+Shift+U’s for or having to remember Unicode like a chimp
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com I love the Compose Key. 😃 Want that “o” with the slash in it? Type Compose + o + / and there you go: ø. I use it all the time. Also for stuff like → arrows or ™.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de It is such a relief !! I can finally type my Ç, œ, à, ê, é …etc without breaking a sweat. xD
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com @movq@www.uninformativ.de I have mapped Caps Lock to be my Compose Key. :-)
cat ~/.Xmodmap
! Convert the otherwise useless Caps Lock key to a compose key, so e. g.
! non-breaking spaces can be inserted with Caps+Space+Space.
! https://adamsimpson.net/writing/compose-key-and-i3
keycode 66 = Multi_key
clear Lock
It’s really great! :-)
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org That sounds clean! do you I’m still experimenting with Key Remapping, and have mine mapped to insert since I never use that one, while Caps got sacrificed for Ctrl.
