If I’ve discovered anything in the decade I’ve spent as a systems administrator and Linux enthusiast, it’s that the majority of the fundamental challenges in managing computers and data were already solved 20 to 40 years ago. Those solutions fell out of use not because they weren’t functional, but because they weren’t profitable.
