Memory didn’t budge: ~650 MiB working set before, during and after. Picket’s doing its job; it’s the git forge behind it that would’ve fallen over.

I wouldn’t blame anyone for abandoning public git repos in 2026… The scrapers just don’t seem to care about the harm they do (or the sites they crash). I guess it’s an “external” cost, and doesn’t cost them anything, so… ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The groff syntax is quite alien indeed. Because it’s so terse. I mean, have fun decyphering stuff like that:

Wir haben heute auf unserer kleinen Wanderung auch einige Leute ihre Drachen steigen lassen sehen und da musste ich sofort an Dich denken. Freut mich riesig, dass das bei Dir trotz Windmangel ein geglücktes Unterfangen war. :-) Leider hatten wir dafür sehr kräftigen, bitterkalten Nordostwind und mussten dann weiter, es war einfach zu eisig im Schatten. Ich hätte gern noch weiter zugeschaut.

I am for nearly anything that takes social media out of the hands of the corporate silos and returns it to the actual participants, doubly-so if it doesn’t swap the silo for something crypto-based, And the simpler the implementation is, the more likely that people will actually implement all of it (/me glances sideways towards ActivityPub).

Picket fingerprints connecting clients and is table to work out for example what software and stack your client is, if it really is Chrome or you’re pretneding to be Chrome.

I do have several layers of backups already, even offsite ones, but it requires me carrying external HDDs around. That used to be acceptable for me (or maybe I was just being naive). But now I’m living in a 20-story building and there are SO MANY IDIOTS in close proximity who might fuck shit up … Fire is a real threat.
