Previously, to work on my code server, I always installed Visual Studio Code locally and then accessed the server using the Remote SSH extension. But that no longer seems necessary now that I have code-server installed. Using code-server, Visual Studio Code can be easily used in the browser. Cool project! ⌘ Read more

Aha! Cool! Not just deleting, but proceeding as if the twt is going to be send. If I :q! on vi it will add an empty line. If, instead, I go :x like I normally do, it works as you said—and as I wanted it. Thanks!
This is pretty cool. I like the link idea. Gives me an idea about pining twits I think are important.

Whoops, forgot to post yesterday, my bad! I got glasses later in the day on my birthday, so that’s cool. For the first day of having them, I had a headache, which was quite annoying, but since then I’ve been getting used to them ^^

I like and use the Brave Browser. It’s a free and open source browser with features like:
- Ad-blocking by default.
- Tracker-blocking by default.
- Anti-fingerprinting mechanisms to prevent you from being monitored.
- Built-in Tor windows.
- Run by a based Christian and not furry leftists.
As far as I’m concerned, Brave is indisputably the best general-purpose browser out there. There are other okay brows … ⌘ Read more

Another cool advantage of keeping everything in text files is how fast the search indexer of operating systems gives you results.
huh. it seems that dumping + gzipping a SQLite database can sometimes have better compression than gzipping the SQLite database directly. cool. #sqlite

@adiabatic@www.frogorbits.com True. The battery life is great - especially since it is new. FaceID is very handy indeed. The bigger screen estate is amazing too. Also esim might be cool - if only my provider would support it.
Humanity is a failed alien terraforming op: Usually newly uplifted civilizations, with very little intervention after the initial seeding, reliably consume all the surface fuel and turn the place into a nice cool desert, and what’s left can be psionically reprogrammed

This won’t get me a “Dear Mr. Cook” mention in an Apple event, but I thought it was pretty cool to be able to use my iPad in the kitchen without touching it. Voice Control is pretty good.

I think DEVO might have got their math wrong in We’re Through Being Cool. Have I met 2 dozen members of any social group? That’s like 20% of my dunbar allocation.

Nadesco is a cynical mecha parody about how genuine & unironic straight mecha is good & cool actually, because exactly the things that make it cheesy make it valuable. Wholesome themes like solidarity in the face of difficult odds are cheesy because they should be obvious (but aren’t).
Trivia: Warren Ellis was asked to play Jeff Minter’s part in Bandersnatch, which would have also been very cool.

Hot take: ambient computing is actually a cool & good idea, as long as no for-profit entities are involved in it. It only becomes horrible when you add business.
Moderan reads like if dril was a battle-cyborg & tried to write his autobiography but kept on getting distracted by how COOL it is to PLASTIC-WRAP THE EARTH.
