Since I found a cheap lifetime license for AdGuard Premium, I’ll try it on my phone for a while. I’ve also configured it with my strict NextDNS profile. But now my phone not only filters DNS requests to block ads, but also HTTP requests. One year ago, I started using AdGuard Home instead of Pi-Hole to filter DNS requests and block ads and tracking. Yesterday, I switched to NextDNS instead. NextDNS has mostly the same features, but is hosted in the “cloud” and I have one less self-hosted service to care about. AdGuard Home is awesome, but NextDNS seems to be working great as well and also integrates with Tailscale easily. ⌘ Read more

On AWS S3
I have moved from Linode (which I will be canceling soon) to Namecheap DNS management (I have all my domains on Namecheap) and Amazon S3. Transition went well, and painless. It should save me some money.

I had had all my websites —this one, and many other test ones, etc—, plus my self-managed DNS on ServerBeach (now part of Peer1) for a very long time. They all reside on a dedicated server, which has, sadly, reached it’s end of life (EOL).

I have a deadline to meet. I must migrate all my servers, and clients to a private IP space. Servers must be done — if at all possible — by September 30th. Clients by October 30th.
