Summer vacation ‘24
A week ago, we returned from our summer vacation: This year, just like four years ago, when there weren’t many other options due to COVID, we went for 1.5 weeks to my grandmother’s vacation apartment in Lübeck-Travemünde. ⌘ Read more

What a week!
What a week! This week I was on vacation, but I didn’t relax at all. I worked harder than on workdays. Since my mother and I finally emptied all the furniture from the apartment I grew up in and moved out of two years ago (I even moved again after it). ⌘ Read more

Catching COVID-19
So far, I had been spared from COVID-19. “Had,” focusing on the past, because now it has affected me, or us, after all. We had to cut short our vacation, which I used to share little glimpses of here on the blog. We quickly went back home, wearing masks the whole time and hoping not to infect more people. ⌘ Read more

The world’s fastest train
I like trains, if that should not have been known yet. This year I even have two major vacations (Romania and Scotland) coming up, both by train, even if flying would be possible. But if it can be done by train, then I also prefer the train. ⌘ Read more

This time I’m doing my commute (to my second flat) with this new 70L travel backpack from Decathlon. It’s already full with just my work stuff (notebook, keyboard, mouse) and some other stuff (personal notebook, smaller backpack, toiletries, 2L water bottle). How am I supposed to fit 14 days of vacation stuff in there? 🤔 Good that I can take a vacation without having to take the work stuff with me. 😅 ⌘ Read more

To kick off my few days of Easter vacation, I took my freshly inspected and repaired pedelec (e-bike) with beautiful weather (20 degrees and sun) and drove a round on the “Ringgleis”, a bike path around my city. The total mileage has now also finally reached the 3000 km. That’s still not much over several years, but I still have my second, non-electric bike, with which I probably ride a lot more. ⌘ Read more

Back from vacations
We are back from vacations. It was a great one, but at the end we agreed that there is no place like home, for many reasons. They are mostly minor things, to which we have grown accustom to, but that combined make the type of life we live. I might detail some of those little things later.

A few posts will be due, to narrate some relevant things from the trip: Iberia and our misplaced luggages (and their English/Spanish phones lines), Hertz and our lemon like rental car, speed limits, Aix- … ⌘ Read more

First day at school
Today is Kent’s first day at school, after the long –although it did not seemed that long– summer vacation. It is his first grade, on a new school and I have “the jitters.” I worry for my son, all the time. I enjoyed this summer with him more than anything in the world. You can’t stop them from growing up, you can’t be with them all the time. But it is so hard not to…

It is an adaptation that will take time. ⌘ Read more

Canon PowerShot A640
Recently we decided to replace our old Sony little camera, since quite a few photos are going to be taken in the near future, and the poor Cyber-Shot we had really wasn’t up to the task. With an under $400 budget, I picked the Canon PowerShot A640, and the picture below is the first one I took, on total automatic mode.

More will come in the near future, as we will have our first real vacation in six years. ⌘ Read more

On vacation now
Today I enter a mini-vacation. There will be a lot of things to do next week, the most important of all will be to get the house ready to sell. Yes, you are not having any vision problems, you are reading well: we are selling the house. Interested?

The main thing we need to do is clean it, that’s the main goal this coming week. There are a few little things that need to get fixed, but they are minor details: some painting here, retouching there, nothing major.

Also, even though I will be o … ⌘ Read more
