Ideally, every output would be tied to the input that spends it, so it can’t be double-spent. Webfinger can be an add-on to help lookup people, and it can be made independent of the nick by just serving the same json regardless of the nick as people do with static sites and a as I implemented it on darch.dk (wf endpoint).
