Pinellas County - Long Run: 7.58 miles, 00:11:16 average pace, 01:25:22 duration
not as long as i would have liked. got a late start because, well, i was enjoying the sleep! then i saw at 0500 the rain was not scheduled anymore so i slept in. then it rained!

so this run was hot, no cloud cover, 90% RH and about 90F. it was brutal. but overall had to cut it short due to shivers all over the body. i was not going to push it when i may be overheating.

highlight: raced a youg boy in boca ciega park

⌘ Read more

About death
I’m on a train again. This time I’m going home from Hudiksvall after a
grueling weekend.

I went from Malmö on Thursday morning and worked the entire day on
trains. I arrived in Ljusdal after close to nine hours. I checked in
at the only hotel in town again and, after a quick meal and glass of
wine, went over to a very sad dad with a bottle of Macallan. We didn’t
empty it but we sure tried. I got back to the hotel pretty late.
Wasn’t able to sleep much.

The day after it was my dad’s wife’s funeral. Met up at dad’s … ⌘ Read more

In-reply-to » So.. Of y'all that had covid. Did you have at the end a night where for no reason your brain amped up to 11 and can't sleep at all? It happened to me last night and my FIL the night before.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de I lasted for a long time.. Not sure where or when it was “got”. We had been having a cold go around with the kiddos for about a week when the wife started getting sicker than normal. Did a test and she was positive. We tested the rest of the fam and got nothing. Till about 2 days later and myself and the others were positive. It largely hasn’t been too bad a little feaver and stuffy noses.

But whatever it was that hit a few days ago was horrible. Like whatever switch in my head that goes to sleep mode was shut off. I would lay down and even though I felt sleepy, I couldn’t actually go to sleep. The anxiety hit soon after and I was just awake with no relief. And it persisted that way for three nights. I got some meds from the clinic that seemed to finally get me to sleep.

Now the morning after I realized for all that time a part of me was missing. I would close my eyes and it would just go dark. No imagination, no pictures, nothing. Normally I can visualize things as I read or think about stuff.. But for the last few days it was just nothing. The waking up to it was quite shocking.

Though its just the first night.. I guess I’ll have to see if it persists. 🤞

I went to bed at 8 and woke up full on anxiety attack at 12 and could not calm my head until around 7 am. Today has sucked a lot.

Pinellas County - Long run: 10.70 miles, 00:11:36 average pace, 02:04:13 duration
had a lot going against me today (all self inflicted). got about 4h30m of sleep with too much to drink late in the evening. no hangover or anything, but probably didn’t help my rest nor hydration. also it was supposedly 80F with a feels like of 93F when i started and 89F with feels like of 111F when i finished. the legs felt heavy and didn’t have the energy to up the cadence and sustain it. it was definitely nice to get out but just one of those days.

@prologic@twtxt.net Hahahaha, great typo, I had to laugh! Shot probably doesn’t feel too much different in your situation right now. :-D Jokes aside, get well mate!

Maybe call in sick and have a good rest. Sleeping most of the day and drinking a whole lot of tea and/or water sometimes makes a big difference for me when I’m knocked out. I’m convinced that reporting sick a day even speeds up the recovery and is a clear win in the end. Considering the reduced productivity when being ill and all the additional errors one is going to make for several days and the time spent afterwards to fix them or rework stuff, one’s better off to don’t to anything for one or two days and then take that time to really rest and give the body the time to get things sorted. At least in my limited and biased experience. Your mileage may vary, of course might be different for other folks.

My connecting train was cancelled, so I decided to go for a night walk with a bit of a detour. It was absolutely worth it, saw a rabbit in front of me crossing the road and the clear sky in the forest made the stars pop nicely. Also super quiet once I left the city and the overgrown paths in the woods were incredibly dark. It was very, very hard to even make out the way. Luckily, I’ve walked it many, many times, so anticipating turns was doneable. Quite an adventure! Took me about 1:15 hours to reach home about 15 minutes ago. So I won’t make it to today’s call, sorry mates. I’ll hopefully sleep like a rock in a few minutes.
