JMP: Mobile-friendly Gateway to any SIP Provider
We have for a long time supported the public Cheogram SIP instance, which allows easy interaction between the federated Jabber network and the federated SIP network. Update Tailscale on the GL.iNet Beryl AX (GL-MT3000)
I’ve been toying with my recently received GL.iNet Beryl AX (GL-MT3000) for some days and I have to say, it’s wonderful! It provides all the features I need in combination with my 5G router (like support for IPv6). I was also able to set up a VPN connection using Wireguard to the other home that will keep a wire-based internet connection with a public (but changing) IPv4 address. As it also works perfectly fine with an LTE stick or mobile tethering, I’m quite tempte … ⌘ Read more

Erlang Solutions: You’ve been curious about LiveView, but you haven’t gotten into it
As a backend developer, I’ve spent most of my programming career away from frontend development. Whether it’s React/Elm for the web or Swift/Kotlin for mobile, these are fields of knowledge that fall outside of what I usually work with.
Nonetheless, I always wanted to have a tool at my disposal for building rich frontends. While the web seemed like the platform with the lowest bar … ⌘ Read more

Profanity: Profanity on Pinephone

So far, in my pinephone I used mainly GUI applications, because I was using a touch screen. Terminal applications are not user-friendly when it comes to one-handed operation.
I tested different distributions on my pinephone (mobian, manjaro, archarm), but usually most based on Phosh. In my opinion it is currently the best mobile graphics environment and stable as well.
In Phosh I tested few xmpp clients:

I believe the selling point is to “mobile optimize” the page and send it to the browser faster than over mobile network direct.. But yes you are giving them the keys to your kingdom.
I remember similar things back in dialup days where your ISP would proxy things to you and supercompress the images.
First experience with my new unlimited mobile phone contract while traveling: The phone hotspot works much better than the ICE (German high speed train) WiFi usually does.
