I want a browser for iOS that’s basically Mobile Safari but without JavaScript (or at least an easy toggle). Does such a thing exist?
You’re well-aware of the benefits of a healthier lifestyle: less pain, more energy, more mobility and autonomy, a higher life expectancy, and so on and so forth ad nauseam. Unfortunately, this knowledge doesn’t compel you to action. Your behavior mostly follows simple hyperbolic discounting - healthy actions pay off in the future, but the future is far away, and your TV / smartphone / snack is much closer. It seems that mobile reception along German high-speed train routes has improved lately (at least compared to 2019). I’m sitting in an ICE 4 between Hanover and Hamburg, and I’ve initiated a speed test via USB tethering. Profanity: Profanity on Pinephone
Hi all,
So far, in my pinephone I used mainly GUI applications, because I was using a touch screen. Terminal applications are not user-friendly when it comes to one-handed operation.
I tested different distributions on my pinephone (mobian, manjaro, archarm), but usually most based on Phosh. In my opinion it is currently the best mobile graphics environment and stable as well.
In Phosh I tested few xmpp clients:

Erlang Solutions: Dynamic XMPP domains in MongooseIM
IntroductionMongooseIM is a robust instant messaging server focused on scalability and performance. It makes use of XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol), an open technology used mainly to develop instant messaging solutions. The protocol is highly extensible and has a very active community supporting it, which results in a variety of possible use cases, be it one-to-one text messaging, mobile group chat or collecti … ⌘ Read more
I believe the selling point is to “mobile optimize” the page and send it to the browser faster than over mobile network direct.. But yes you are giving them the keys to your kingdom.
I remember similar things back in dialup days where your ISP would proxy things to you and supercompress the images.
First experience with my new unlimited mobile phone contract while traveling: The phone hotspot works much better than the ICE (German high speed train) WiFi usually does. At most, there are small interruptions in tunnels, but otherwise surfing, writing e-mails, and listening to music work perfectly. Even remote programming works. It was worth it… ⌘ Read more

Stay frosty: possible test stream on PeerTube and YouTube in a bit
I’m going to probably be doing a test livestream in a bit. Hopefully I fixed the issue in the previous stream with Pulseaudio and buffering.
I’ll probably go live on PeerTube first, test it there, then test it on YouTube. I’m mobile and on limit battery though, so it won’t be a super long stream if everything works out.
