I was introducing someone I know to #Mastodon a few years back, starting with:

“So let’s find a server that suits your niche interests. What are you looking for?”


thinking that I knew all the fedi communities pretty well.

They responded cheekily “Is there a european-foreign-policy server?”

Of course I came up short, and they ended up making an account on a generalist server.

But fedi has grown a lot since!

Thanks to everyone for a fantastic #BornHack ✹

I’m baffled that every Bornhack keeps being better than the last.

This year I managed to put up a talk, two lightning talks, a gamejam and a few spontaneous meetups. All of it was a great success. So many smart people engaging in interesting ways.

Cactus Comments has now seen over 1.2 million unique users - only counting guest users on our free public instance.

Guest users on instances not hosted by us and signed in users on any server don’t even count in this statistic.

cactus.chat has to be the Matrix server with most guest users at this point


I keep spotting implementations in the wild as well. Last week I saw someone using it for the comment section of a livestream! So cool.

Her startede det lidt blĂždt, men blev til et brag af en dansefest fĂžr det var slut.

↳ In-reply-to » (#oyi5iua) @darch I think having a way to layer on features so those who can support/desire them can. It would be best for the community to be able to layer on (or off) the features.

An option would be to have /twtxt.txt be the base functionality as bukket intended without subject tags, markdown, images and such truncated to 140 chars. a /yarn.txt that has all the extentions as we know and love. and maybe a /.well-known/webfinger + (TBD endpoint) that adds on the crypto enhancements that further extend things.
