New GRU Devlog published - first contribution from other person and more tools ideas :)
implicit music, or the idea that music naturally exudes from everything. composition is not the act of making music, but of starting with music and working backwards. #halfbakedideas
No, Iām still doing them manually. š¤£š¤¦š» But I do think they are a good idea and will be adding them, I just havenāt gotten around to finding a compatible implementation of the hash yet.
Good idea. Plan 9 sets $NPROC on boot to the number of cores, so other things can use it. mk will dispatch things in just that way.
We welcome prospective students to submit their own ideas, but weāve got a page full of suggestions: http://p9f.org/wiki/gsoc-2021-ideas/index.html
With the finger server specifically? No idea, itās a toy. Iād honestly forgotten I had it on until someone mentioned finger.farm and I was inspired to poke at it again.
@prologic@twtxt.net @anth Sounds like a good idea. The hash to conv/search url should stay local to a pod.
@prologic@twtxt.netFor example, this should work (no idea if it does).
Writing a ātweetā is low-friction, and the medium forces you to chunk out ideas into (mostly) self-contained thoughts.
Iām finding the microblogging format to be really useful for working out ideas.
@prologic@twtxt.net that would be an interesting idea. I think your current spec of using an SMTP proto is probably best for DM.
but having a federation of IRC servers would be interesting for realtime twt propagation.
@prologic@twtxt.net sounds about right. I tend to try to build my own before pulling in libs. learn more that way. I was looking at using it as a way to build my twt mirroring idea. and testing the lex parser with a wide ranging corpus to find edge cases. (the pgp signed feeds for one)
@prologic@twtxt.net the add function just scans recursivley everything.. but the idea is to just add and any new mentions then have a cron to update all known feeds
@vain@www.uninformativ.de i donāt think mastodon is a good idea but then again i never really understood the twitter format and its appeal, so thereās that.
@prologic@twtxt.net after stewing on it. I really like the idea of a wiki. throw it on the roadmap after DMs š
@prologic@twtxt.net My thoughts on it being if they switched from a different way of hosting the file or multiple locations for redundancy..
I have an idea of using something like SRV records where they can define weighted url endpoints to reach.
@prologic@twtxt.net I have some ideas to improve on twtxt. figure I can contribute some. š bit more work and it will almost be a drop in replacement for ParseFile
Kinda wish types.Twt was an interface. itās sooo close.
i just realized i have no idea how to tag/mention someone else on this thing. i tried but i donāt think it worked?
a concept thatās organically grown with my !literate_programming efforts is this idea I call a !proof_of_thought #literate_programming #thoughtful
collecting my half-baked ideas over at !halfbaked
the idea would be to build and share tiny 6.5 bit programs encoded as printable ascii characters. this could then in turn be read by a virtual computer to do things like paint a picture or compose a piece of music. #halfbakedideas
@lucidiot@tilde.town very cool idea! may have to try something like that at some pointā¦
#Ideas RSS to twtxt, Twitter to twtxt, jrnl to twtxtā¦
@lucidiot@tilde.town, thanks for the bug report. Does anybody have an idea for https://github.com/mdom/txtnish/issues/12?
@lucidiot@tilde.town I had this idea. I can probably just set the gz header and send gzip. The request is ending up in a cgi script written in C, which assemples the response. I can do pretty much everything thereā¦
I have trouble with a web crawler using the TOR network. Itās misusing the gopher proxy on my page. I donāt want to disable/block tor (that would be the easy way out). Itās permanently changing user agents and ignoring robots.txt. It ignores HTTP status codes. Iām currently serving it 4MB binary garbage in form of Link. It sucked in about 40GB of data now, but it doesnāt explode and keeps crawling. Any other idea about what to do with it?
@von@tilde.town: I stole the idea from a random webpage that listed a finger address for contact information. I would assume itās pretty effective against spam ;)
Do you have ideas for a new spec? Maybe we can collect them on irc? join freenode/twtxt
@nblade@nblade.sdf.org: Itās just an idea. Not a clean one thoug, as clients would not know upfront who serves such a fiele and who not. Another idea would ne to mix a number of random followers into the twtxt file, which are updated when a person tweets.
@kas@enotty.dk Have you done something with nncp? I like the idea, but somehow i donāt find a use case for it⦠:)
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net I think we already discussed encrypted tweets some time ago, but no encryption seemed short enough. GPG ist just too big. Any ideas?
@reednj@twtxt.xyz No idea, i could just find https://robbinaer.info/index.php?article93/twtxt
@leveck@leveck.us Why not just use a menu and link your posts, friends and comments? I like the idea to use fts for comments!
@tdemin@tdemin.github.io good points, though another that Iāve noticed is that itās difficult to tell who in your network is actually reachable with your tweets. My HTTPS cert went unupdated for a brief while and now I have no idea who is still following me since I got it working again, so itās difficult to tell where I can really have a conversation. A centralized service can tell whoās following who, but thatās basically impossible in twtxt.
@reednj@twtxt.xyz Yeah, to make twtxt ready for a mesh network. But i just played with the idea, itās no call for implementation⦠:)
There could be known archive urls and we could use mdns for local twtxt distribution. Just playing with the idea⦠:)
@durcheinandr@durcheinandr.de Sorry, no idea then. I have a ticker with news agencies like dpa, afp etc. at work but thatās more like a firehose.
@mdom@domgoergen.com, @dave@davebucklin.com, @kas@enotty.dk I agree with the āno max length; show at least 140charsā idea.
What about benaiah first idea for #issue48? It would be easy to parse, looks very unixlike and doesnāt clash with the current syntax? I would implement it for txtnish, if it wouldnāt be the only implementation⦠:)
@kas@enotty.dk Ah, #txtnish just dumps the latin-1 on your terminal. Not sure what i should do about that, but itās probably okay. But itās a good idea to test that!
Maybe it would be a good idea to point new users to reednj, we-are-twtxt or irc. Some set up a twtfile and arenāt sure about the next step.
I though about ix.io, any other good ideas?
Does anybody has a good idea where to do some promotion for twtxt? A subreddit or online community i havenāt thought about?
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net Let me know if you have any good idea how to solve that. You probably need two files: your plain twtfile and a signed one in your docroot.
The user interface is not perfect, if you have any idea how to improve, iām all ears.
@freemor@freemor.homelinux.net Okay, i admin, i have no idea what a TZAG is? And thanks for the great link about CloudFlare! MITM on 5% of the webā¦
@dracoblue@dracoblue.net Iām not sure if iām ready to document the streaming interface, iām still playing with different ideas.
@mylesb Nice idea!
@dracoblue@dracoblue.net Sorry, but what tweet are you referring to? I have no idea what sounds great⦠We need a way to reference tweets!
I think we sometimes forget that even with all the advanced web technologies, you can still share your ideas with a simple text file.
