iOS 26 Battery Life Suffering? Hereâs Why & How to Fix It
iOS 26 is in the wild, and aside from the mixed reactions to the Liquid Glass interface, there are also wildly different reports of battery life performance post-update. A notable number of iPhone and iPad users are complaining throughout social media and online forums that iOS 26 battery drains faster than it did before, and ⊠Read More â Read more
@zvava@twtxt.net I never used any of the social media platforms, thatâs why Iâm probably ignorant.
I donât understand the concept of a retwt. Just quote the (relevant) parts from whereever and comment on that. Or post a link instead of a quote. Sounds simple enough. :-) Thatâs also has the benefit that it works with every source, no matter what. Since itâs called retwt, Iâd imagine this to only work (well) with whatever messages the system itself offers. But I could be wrong. What would be the benefit of having a dedicated message type or structure for âhey, look at thatâ messages in your opinion?
Hmm, whatâs a content warning?
@zvava@twtxt.net I reckon thereâs currently nobody working on v2. Which timezone are you in? Just post your questions here or head over to #yarn.social at libera.chat for a more realtime conversation via IRC.
Ariadne explains some of the reasons behind this âWaybackâ thingy (rootful X11 on Wayland):

They should put this in a FAQ on their website or something. The whole endeavor makes more sense when you look at it like this.

Someone did a thing:
https://social.treehouse.systems/@ariadne/114763322251054485
Iâve been silently wondering all the time if this was possible, but never investigated: Keep doing X11 but use Wayland as a backend.
This uses XWaylandâs ârootfulâ mode, which basically just gives you a normal Wayland window with all the X11 stuff happening inside of it:
https://www.phoronix.com/news/XWayland-Rootful-Useful
In other words, put such a window in fullscreen and you (more or less) have good old X11 running in a Wayland window.
(For me, personally, this wonât be the way forward. But itâs a very interesting project.)

@prologic@twtxt.net I am finding writing my Notes very therapeutic. Just create a markdown file and commit, push, and itâs live. Whatever comes to mind, whatever I want to keep as relevant. Silly things, more like a dump.

What next after vibe coding
One interesting possible future of the emergence of âvibe codingâ as common terminology is the possibility to position an alternative.
âReal codingâ?
Future think pieces:
âYou can get yourself up and running quickly with âvibe codingâ but when you get traction youâre going to want have people doing âreal codingââ
âswitching from vibe coding to real coding will typically cost you X% of you initial development, so donât put off switching too lateâ

Confession:
Iâve never found microblogging like twtxt or the Fediverse or any other âmodernâ social media to be truly fulfilling/satisfying.
The reason is that it is focused so much on people. You follow this or that person, everybody spends time making a nice profile page, the posts are all very âego-centricâ. Seriously, it feels like everybody is on an ego-trip all the time (this is much worse on the Fediverse, not so much here on twtxt).
I miss the days of topic-based forums/groups. A Linux forum here, a forum about programming there, another one about a certain game. Stuff like that. That was really great â and it didnât even suffer from the need to federate.
Sadly, most of these forums are dead now. Especially the nerds spend a lot of time on the Fediverse now and have abandoned forums almost completely.
On Mastodon, you can follow hashtags, which somewhat emulates a topic-based experience. But itâs not that great and the protocol isnât meant to be used that way (just read the snac2 docs on this issue). And the concept of âlikesâ has eliminated lots of the actual user interaction. âčïž

@Yarn@yarn.social yo, whatâs up? I am busy running my business here!
Hello @Yarn.social@yarn.social đ (testing something)
Finally I propose that we increase the Twt Hash length from 7 to 12 and use the first 12 characters of the base32 encoded blake2b hash. This will solve two problems, the fact that all hashes today either end in q or a (oops) đ
And increasing the Twt Hash size will ensure that we never run into the chance of collision for ions to come. Chances of a 50% collision with 64 bits / 12 characters is roughly ~12.44B Twts. That ought to be enough! â I also propose that we modify all our clients and make this change from the 1st July 2025, which will be Yarn.socialâs 5th birthday and 5 years since I started this whole project and endeavour! đ± #Twtxt #Update
@twtxtory@twtxtory.adn.org.es Hello đ Welcome to Yarn.social / Twtxt đ
P.S: the couple first Seasons and Her (The movie) are the main reasons I find it a bit difficult to go back to mainstream social media or even care about smartphones đ
Iâm thinking of building a hardened peering protocol for Yarn.socialâs yarnd: pods establish cryptographic identities, exchange signed /info and /twt payloads with signature verification, ensuring authenticity, integrity, and spoof-proof identity validation across the distributed network.
