the counter intuitive thing about the winter solstice is that it actually gets worse from here, weather wise (and of course food supply-wise). if you hadn’t put together how the whole thing works, hadn’t been given knowledge passed down from people come before, you wouldn’t know hope comes with the lengthening of days. it’s solace for the worst bit yet to come
